IMPROVED TRACKING SERVICES:
PERSONALIZED FOLLOW-UP FREQUENCY:
SPOT Gen3's custom tracking service will allow you to change how often your location is sent to 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes when you access one of the new Unlimited Tracking or Extreme Tracking services.
MOTION ACTIVATED TRACKING:
A vibration sensor tells SPOT to send your GPS location when you're moving and not when you're stationary. In this way, you can save battery and avoid sending coordinates twice.
CONTINUOUS MONITORING:
With the new Unlimited Tracking or Extreme Tracking services, SPOT Gen3 will continue to send tracking messages until you turn off SPOT. You do not need to restart after 24 hours.
FUNCTIONS:
SOS
Use this function in the event of a dangerous situation or any other emergency to inform the emergency services of your exact location and the need for assistance. The GEOS Emergency Response Center will alert the appropriate agencies around the world. For example, you will contact 9-1-1 recipients in North America and 1-1-2 recipients in Europe.
How does it work:
Once activated, SPOT will obtain your exact coordinates from the GPS network and send that data along with a message to the GEOS International Emergency Center every five minutes until cancelled. This emergency center responds to your specific emergency based on your location and personal information. -which may include local police, highway patrol, coast guard, the country's embassy or consulate or other rescue teams. In addition, your emergency contacts will also be informed of the receipt of said emergency signal.
Important:
Even if SPOT cannot find your location with the GPS network, it will try to send an emergency signal without the exact location to the GEOS Emergency Center, which will notify the reception of the signal and will continue to monitor the network in case more messages are issued.
CONFIRMATION:
This function allows your friends and family to know that everything is going well and know your GPS location through a scheduled message. With the push of a button, a text message or email is sent to up to 10 predetermined contacts, and your waypoint is stored in your SPOT account for future reference. These waypoints can be easily integrated into the SPOT Shared Page or SPOT Adventure account.
How does it work:
Once your SPOT account has been activated, you can change your contacts or personalize your message at any time. When you press the OK button, your contacts receive a text message on their mobile with your message and your coordinates, or an e-mail with your message or a link to Google Maps™ showing your exact location.
AID:
For situations that do not threaten your safety, you can use this feature to notify your personal contacts that you need help. SPOT's Additional Assistance service can be purchased and programmed into your Help button. When you activate this service, the Help button will notify professional bodies whether on land or in the water. SPOT partners with national service providers to offer assistance in non-hazardous situations.
How does it work:
Once activated, SPOT obtains your exact location from the GPS network and directs it with the HELP message through SPOT's satellite network every five minutes for one hour or until cancelled. Your contacts will receive a text message on their mobile with your coordinates, or an email with a link to Google Maps™ showing your exact location.
Important:
Even if SPOT is not able to get your location from the GPS network, it will try to send a HELP message (without your exact location) to your contacts.
PERSONALIZED MESSAGE:
This feature allows your friends and family to receive a confirmation message with your location at the touch of a button. Use this function as a secondary confirmation message or transfer your personal alert to this message function if you are using the SPOT Assistance service on the Help button.
The Custom Message works the same as the Confirmation message. You can also access your waypoints in your SPOT account to view the route later. Or link your SPOT account to SPOT Adventures and save a map of your adventures using your SPOT waypoints, and garnish the story with photos and a blog.

FOLLOW-UP:
This feature allows you to send and save your location, as well as allowing your contacts to track your progress in near real time using Google Maps. With your SPOT account, you have the ability to set up a SPOT Shared Page that allows you to show others your SPOT GPS locations on Google Maps.
How does it work:
Once activated, SPOT acquires and sends your GPS coordinates to your SPOT account automatically every 10 minutes for 24 hours or until you cancel. The Tracking service must be re-established to continue. Creating a Shared Page allows you to share your GPS track with your friends and family in real time on the web via a link. You can make your Shared Page private or public. To your taste! Just share the url with your friends and family and they can follow your adventures. You can also link your SPOT to SPOT Adventures, a social portal where you can create a profile and blog and share it with others to see your adventures too.
